Aspiration to Action

Contigo Ed was born out of the belief that all students are worthy of quality post-secondary options. We believe that school counselors hold an incredible responsibility -- supporting students on their path of discernment and preparation. As former counselors, it is our goal to provide you with high quality content and development in support of every student you serve.

At Contigo Ed, we aim to support school counselors and advisors by simplifying their work streams and making their work and student interactions more meaningful. We accomplish this in one of three ways: Aspiration to Action on-demand courses, live professional learning experiences, and by connecting you to our community of brilliant educators.

Overview of On-Demand Resources

Aspiration to Action, our online, on demand free resources for counselors and advisors, is robust and continues to grow.  We currently have:

  • 15 microcourses bundled into 4 different categories:  Aspiration, Postsecondary Pathways, College Applications, and Transition & Summer Melt.  Our microcourses contain information and experiences for counselors and advisors to create community, bolster their knowledge and skills, and acquire and activate ready-made resources.

  • Get to know our 4 case-study students as they experience challenges and celebrations on their postsecondary path. You will have opportunities to practice using their profiles as examples. These case studies are based on actual student profiles — we expect you may be able to see some of your own students in them as well!

  • Currently, our 15 microcourses contain 72 downloadable documents, lesson plans, presentations and handouts to support school practitioners by allowing them to instantly activate their new knowledge and skills in both group and individual advising sessions.  Within each microcourse, you can also find audio recordings of each microcourse summary. Finally, we used an embedded software in our course that allows participants to interact with the content in ways that increase engagement and understanding.

  • Courses are 30-40 minutes each and completely on-demand learning experiences. Start and complete each course when it's convenient for you.

  • Each course is focused on a particular topic related to career and college readiness and advising. Although courses can be taken in any order, the courses intentionally build on top of one another -- for novice counselors, we recommend taking them in the order they are presented.

  • Throughout the course, you will also have opportunities to check your understanding, reflect, practice, and assess your knowledge. These are tools to support your learning and to provide you with feedback. A progress bar will show you how many pages are left as well as what you can expect coming up. Blue pages are content and Yellow pages may require your input.

Foundational Beliefs

You deserve a single place where you can not only access information about advising students to and through career and college, but hear from real, live school practitioners on how this information translates into actual advising.

  • Explore the career and college going process through case studies.

  •  Access resources to build systems and structures to manage your caseload so that every student of yours can get the differentiated advising they need.

  • Take and edit ready-made, student-facing resources.

All of our resources are anchored in these foundational beliefs that you will see throughout the course.
